Hello Career Educators,
My name is Bolaji, and I am interning with Black Women Connect Vancouver.
I am reaching out to tell you about the Empowered Black Girl program, as we are building on the momentum from last year and planning for EBG 2024 is already underway.
Empowered Black Girl is a conference for Black girls in the Vancouver lower mainland area of British Columbia between grades 8 -12. The program was created to provide a platform for Black girls to interact & have empowering discussions with Black women to promote representation and provide resources for different aspects of daily life.
The program focus areas are Community Development, Health & Wellness, STEM, Personal Development and Mentorship. This year, the in-person summit will take place on July 4
th to 6th 2024 and applications will open on May 1st , 2024. Students interested in attending the conference are welcome to register online.
EBG is scaling up with hopes to drastically increase our program participation. We would like the opportunity to share the information about our program with your students.

ACE Microcredential: Introductory Design and Technical Skills for Architecture, Construction &
Engineering Are you currently in grade 12 and interested in Architecture, Construction or Engineering? BCIT’s “ACE” Program will introduce students to the entry level design, technical and communication skills that are highly sought after by today’s top employers in these fields.
While the July 2024 intake of the ACE Certificate is open to students currently enrolled in Grade 12 expecting to graduate in June 2024, as well as recent (i.e. 2023) high school graduates, we are specifically interested in reaching students who would truly benefit from this opportunity. This program is specifically targeted at students who are not considering post-secondary education in the Fall for scholastic or financial reasons, and/or students who are facing other barriers that inhibit their ability to pursue further education. This unique opportunity to access a
tuition-sponsored (no cost to student) BCIT Certificate and paid practicum placements in the in-demand ACE sector is intended to support a diverse cohort of students with the attitude and aptitude to make the most of this program.
We would really appreciate it if you could reach out to students directly who might not foresee this as an opportunity for them based on perceived limitations to pursue post-secondary and would benefit from this exploratory program.

Camp Ignite is a three-night, three-day camp that educates and inspires young women to follow their dreams. We aim to show our campers a future of limitless opportunities and demonstrate that anything is possible.
The camp is open to girls in grades 11-12 (ages 15-18) living in British Columbia. Our camp offers an introduction to the exciting world of firefighting, along with fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork. We are a not-for-profit society and strive to keep the camp affordable and accessible to those interested.

British Columbia Retired Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association Scholarships/Bursaries


The British Columbia Retired Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association (BCRPVPA) awards up to five (5) bursaries/scholarships, in the amount of $1000 each, to students in the year that they graduate from the BC public school system and who are continuing their education at an accredited post-secondary institution in CANADA.
Applicants who are pursuing education in trades and technical career fields, as well as those entering universities and colleges, are encouraged to apply.

Vancouver Coastal Health, Health Care Spring Camp

Health Care Spring Camp
We would like to extend an invitation to students in grades 10 – 12 to participate in the upcoming Health Care Spring Camp 2024.
Spring camp is a five-day immersive and dynamic experience where students will connect with health-care professionals and engage in hands-on experiences that can fuel passion and shape a future in a health-related career. The camp will include site specific tours, presentations from various disciplines within the health-care team, simulations, and Heart & Stroke certification in Heartsaver CPR AED – Level C.
Audience: Grade 10 to 12 students
Date: March 18 to 22, 2024
Time: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (to be confirmed)
Venue: VGH Simulation Centre
Registration fee: $150 to cover event expenses. Payment details are provided after participation is
confirmed. Participants must be able to provide proof of double COVID-19 vaccination as they will be visiting patient care areas.
