October 1 – Save the date!
Douglas College applications for Fall 2019 open on October 1 at 8:30am. This is important since many of our programs are first-qualified, first-admitted. Applying early is crucial! One exception is the Veterinary Technology program, with an application deadline of January 15 2019.
Academic Foundations for Potential Nursing Applicants
Popular programs such as Academic Foundations for Potential Nursing Applicants fill up quickly – typically by 4pm the day applications open. Encourage your students to apply first thing on October 1!

New name, same office
As of September, the Office for New Students officially became the Future Students’ Office (FSO). The change better reflects what we do: recruit domestic students. It’s the same great people, but with a year-round mission: to help future students make informed decisions about coming to Douglas College. To learn more about the FSO team, visit our staff page.
2018 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championships!
Douglas College is hosting the 2018 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championships. Come out and cheer us on! The Royals play their first tournament game on November 7pm at 5pm, at Percy Perry Town Centre Field. The theme of the tournament is Empower: Celebrating women in sport and leadership.
New BBA Management
We have a brand new Bachelor’s degree – the Bachelor of Business Administraiton in Management! It provides students with essential business and management tools, as well as practical, industry-relevant skills in one of six concentrations. Students can enter directly into the BBA or start in the diploma program and transfer in year three.
New designated seats for Psychiatric Nursing
There are now designated seats for Aboriginal students, SD 43 students and other high school applicants interested in Academic Foundations for Potential Psychiatric Nursing Applicants and the Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing. In January, we will also have designated seats for Douglas College Health Care Support Worker graduates. To be eligible for a designated seat offer, applicants must meet all academic and non-academic admission requirements.
Vocational Education and Skills Training – News!
VEST, which offers programs to people with disabilities or barriers to education and employment has a new program contact: Marsha Wilson! Contact her to learn more about our programs for students with disabilities. Please be aware that we are no longer offering the Consumer and Job Preparation Program.
Becoming a geological technician just got easier
The mining industry is booming with lots of jobs. Plus, our Geological Resources Diploma program has changed its admission requirements. Once students graduate from this two-year program, they’ll have the knowledge and training to find work immediately.
Environmental Science Associate Degree
Interest in environmental science careers is growing, and Douglas College is offering a revamped Associate of Science Degree in Environmental Science. The new requirements allow students to graduate sooner with fewer credits. The program now offers more flexibility when choosing courses, allowing students to define their own pathway.
Thanks so much! Hope to see you soon!
